Outpost Winery, vineyards, residences, trademark and inventory located on Howell Mountain has sold to AXA Millésimes, a subsidiary of the French multinational insurance firm AXA Group that focuses on investments in the wine industry.
Restaurants are on the move. The latest to close is one of Calistoga’s favorites Brannan’s Grill which has been in operation for 20 years. The owners are putting the business up for sale and will be focusing on their other restaurant in town Checkers.
Chris Canning Mayor of Calistoga tells me that that the Rosewood Hotel Group will spend the next twelve months finishing up infrastructure on the site. So it will probably be another three years before the resort is likely to open.
I had the great fortune of attending many Festival Napa Valley events this month. The annual festival was ten days and nights of world class performances by the San Francisco Ballet, opera singers and musicians from around the world performing at the Lincoln theatre, Meadowood and wineries under the moon and stars. It was beyond incredible.
Some of the many highlights were Opening Night “Opera Under the Stars” at Meadowood, the Grand Cru Piano series at Dario Sattuis “Castle Castello di Amorosa” had 75 musicians on stage and Joshua Bell performed live on stage at the Lincoln Theatre while guests watched the movie he starred in years ago – “The Red Violin”. The gala and auction for the Arts was at Hall Winery and my good friends Antonio & Rita Castellucci were the successful bidders for tickets to Andrea Bocellis concert in Tuscany, followed by the post-concert dinner with him and his friends and then dinner with Sophia Loren in Geneva, Switzerland. We enjoyed many memorable performances and intimate luncheons and dinners with the performers. Click here for a sneak peek at the all the glitz and glamor and hopefully you will be tempted to join us next year. Enjoy the rest of the newsletter.
