Napa Valley homeowners “give back” this Thanksgiving

We all know that Thanksgiving Day is a celebration of gratitude and thanks. What better way to celebrate than to “give back” back to your community? Napa Valley homeowners can choose to give to some amazing local non-profits, or help out by donating to a number of national charities. Here are some of my favorites:

  • The Napa Valley Coalition of Nonprofit Agencies
This Coalition is dedicated to several local non-profit organizations that bring health and human services together for the purpose of mutual support.
  • Jameson Rescue Ranch
This important non-profit answers the call to help animals in our community through its annual holiday animal food drive, lovingly called “A Season of Giving ~ Helping Animals in Need.” Throughout the months of November and December, this 501c3 organization asks Napa residents to donate food for cats, dogs, horses and other farm animals at a variety of local stores. Check out this video about the good work of Jameson Rescue Ranch.
  • American Red Cross
The American Red Cross provides disaster relief and countless other services that depend largely on a vast network of volunteers. You can assist by making a financial contribution, but there are plenty of other ways to help, including volunteer work, donating blood and even teaching others.
  • Habitat for Humanity
With the belief that every man, woman and child deserves housing that is both safe and affordable, this non-profit group has built thousands of simple and sustainable homes for low-income families around the world. They do this with the help of countless volunteers, but a quick and easy way to help is to participate in the com Building Hope Challenge in support of Habitat for Humanity.
  • Feeding America
This charity’s mission is to feed America’s hungry and engage our country in the fight to end hunger. Feeding America supports approximately 50,000 local charitable agencies operating more than 90,000 programs including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after-school programs, and Kids Cafes.

These are just a few ideas for Napa Valley homeowners who want to “give back” this Thanksgiving. For more ideas, check out this Napa Valley Give Guide.
