Design Idea for Your High-end Home

Creating a Luxury Interior: Design Ideas for Your High-end Home

Creating a luxury interior for your high-end home is easier than it sounds. All you have to do is follow these simple tricks from leading interior designers across the nation. Here are my top 3 ideas on ways to update your luxury home and keep the high-end look you want:

1) It’s all in the details
If you like the ‘traditional look’, think custom made when it comes to decorating your luxury home. For instance, the simple addition of crown molding will make a room look complete while bringing the ceiling and walls together in an elegant way. Choose the widest trim for the ultimate in glamour, and try adding all types of molding: crown, high baseboard, ceiling beams, columns, ceiling medallions, chair rails etc. Then there’s your hardware. Don’t purchase hardware that is mass marketed. Instead, go to smaller hardware stores, flea markets, and antique shops to find heavy-duty, expensive-looking drawer knobs and pulls. And don’t forget the throw pillows. Look for elegant goose down stuffed pillows that add that elegant touch.

2) Paint color
There are certain paint color palates that create elegance and add instant glamour to your home. I’M not into bold and dramatic, but if you are, some leading designers suggest their clients paint their interior doors black to create that posh feeling.  Just remember if you choose this option, you will need to add some black accessories to tie in the overall design. I find buyers tend to prefer soft, understated hues that are more relaxing and give interiors a sense of scale.

3) Lighting and Window Treatments
I can’t stress enough how important lighting and window treatments are in creating a luxury space. When it comes to window treatments stick with elegant materials such as natural silk, linen and cotton. If draperies are not for you, then try sheer electronic blinds that allow you to enjoy the outdoors when they’re down and disappear when they’re not in use. As far as lighting goes, nothing says elegance as well as designer light fixtures. Ask your interior designer to include several different light sources inside your luxury home; from table lamps and floor lamps to elegant chandeliers.
