New Napa Valley Winery Tasting Room at Whetstone Estate
Whetstone Estate, which sits on two acres surrounded by beautiful cedar and oak trees, has officially opened its tasting room daily from 11 am – 4 pm. The family-owned, luxury Napa Valley winery brand, located in the heart of theNapaValley real estate at1075 Atlas Peak Road, is just a few minutes from downtown Napa, a mile east of the Silverado Trail and just south of the Silverado Country Club. The French-style chateau and Napa landmark, originally built in 1885 by Hamden W. McIntyre, still endures today. McIntyre designed several local gravity-flow wineries including: Eschol (now Trefethen), Seneca Ewer (Beaulieu), Greystone and Inglenook (Rubicon). In February of 2011, Whetstone Estate owners began a restoration of the old stone distillery building, making it a world-class tasting room. That restoration is now complete and you just have to see if for yourself.
Enjoy a serene and sensual wine tasting experience like no other, featuring current release wines including the 2010 Carneros Chardonnay, 2010 Pleasant Hill Pinot Noir, 2009 Bella Vigna Pinot Noir and 2010 Phoenix Ranch Syrah.
Taste four current release wines along with savory rosemary almonds for $15 per person, or four wines with a salami and cheese platter for $35 per person. Or how about sampling current release wines with a family-style al fresco lunch from Michael Chiarello’s Napa Style Café, served daily at12:30 pm? Wine lovers enjoy good company gathered around the family table to enjoy an antipasto platter, seasonal salad and assorted panini sandwiches for $75 per person. If you plan on visiting with a group of 15 or more people, be sure to order the special tasting with a ZuZu paella lunch or Morimoto bento box lunch for $75 per person.
Larger groups get even more choices. If your gang includes 15 or more persons, try the tasting lunch with Smoke Open Fire fried chicken for $125 per person. Twenty-five people or more can take advantage of the Azzuro Pizzeria E Enoteca lunch of handcrafted pizzas prepared on site for $95 per person.
