4th of July Celebrations in Napa Valley

4th of July Fireworks in Napa Valley

There’s a plethora of 4th of July fireworks to choose from in and around Napa Valley. Personal fireworks of any kind are banned, however, everywhere in the county except St. Helena.

For those interested in spending the 4th in St. Helena, “safe and sane” state approved fireworks can be purchased at the city’s well-known fireworks stand on Highway 29. Revelers can find a variety of fireworks that will satisfy their Independence Day rush but don’t explode, move along the ground or travel through the air.

Local fire officials are especially concerned this year due to the ongoing drought and are urging residents to be even more cautious when lighting legal fireworks.

“Especially this time of year, in the throes of fire season with high temperatures and low humidity, people need to be careful,” said Darren Drake, Napa’s fire marshal. “A simple sparkler burns at 1,200 degrees. The heat is a fire risk and can be a safety risk for children. Most fire departments view all fireworks, safe and sane or illegal, as an increased fire risk.”
