Smart Kitchens are actually helping sell homes

smart kitchen appliancesBelieve it or not, having smart kitchens adorned with state-of-the-art appliances and other high-end accouterments are helping clinch a sale.

Smart-home products were all the rage at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, CES 2015. Everything from robotic washing machines and dryers to intelligent doorbells, locks, coffeemakers and brainy HVAC accessories were displayed front and center at this year’s high-tech gadget extravaganza. The International CES is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. Held in Las Vegas every year, it has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for more than 40 years.

What caught my eye is the “Chef Collection” suite of appliances for smart kitchens from Samsung. Let’s begin with the refrigerator. With its 33.3-cubic-foot capacity, the Chef Collection 4-Door Refrigerator is about as roomy as you’ll find. A Triple Cooling System creates three separate airflows in the refrigerator and freezer sections for optimal humidity control. This system also allows the temperature of the bottom right compartment to be adjusted to fit your needs, whether you’re freezing fish or chilling Chardonnay.

Then there’s what the company calls its “game changer:” a dishwasher featuring a sleek, stainless steel finish and reinvented washing mechanics. This entirely new approach to cleaning is called a “WaterWall.” Instead of a revolving circle of jets, WaterWall uses a linear wall of water, which sweeps back and forth during the wash cycle.

The Chef Collection Electric Slide-In Range has the ability to simultaneously cook two different dishes at two different temperatures; offering cooks greater oven control, more precise temperature regulation, and better overall ease of use. There’s also a matching over-the-range Chef Collection microwave.

I think all the smart appliances and connected systems available today are very impressive. I know from experience that if kitchens are not decked out with the best stainless steel appliances or the space to put them in without a major remodel, buyers will walk. I will be interested to see how buyers respond to  these new smart appliances and products as they roll out and find their way into our homes.

I can find you the perfect property to set up your new smart kitchen; filled with the latest state-of-the-art appliances and other high-end accouterments.
